The Foundation develops cooperation with Chengdu
On February 5 – 15 there took place a first visit of President of the Foundation in China this year. During ten days stay, there have been arranged meetings in Tianjin, Beijing and Xuzhou. The key part of the stay, was three days visit in the capital of central China Sichuan province – Chengdu city. Although usually associated mainly with the Research – Breeding Base of Great Panda, this city is the most important one in central China as an economic, cultural and scientific center – with developed high-tech industry, electronics, machinery, chemical sector, timber processing, mineral, light, food and metal industry. Region of Chengdu is also an area in which agriculture is developing vitally in an interesting and modern way.
In Chengdu, President Calik has met with Vice Mayor of the city – Mr. Xie Ruiwu, and also with Vice Chairman of Chengdu Municipal Committee of the CPPCC Mr. Dai Xiaoyan. The discussion focused on the areas associated with agriculture and also international trade. Vice President Xie pointed to the complementarity of Polish and Chinese economies in the context of the two above mentioned aspects and expressed his hope for the development and intensification of cooperation with Polish entities through the Foundation. President of the Foundation shared hopes of President Xie and stressed the multifaceted potential of Cracow in the context of the development of mutual relations with Chengdu, as well as the many similarities that connect the two cities.
Another element of the visit was the meeting at Chengdu Agricultural College (CAC), where under a power of attorney, there was a discussion on the possible areas and methods of cooperation between the CAC and the University of Agriculture in Cracow. An interesting element was also visit at organic farm in Pixian County located near Chengdu.
Both sides expressed high satisfaction with the talks and their effects. In the near future foundation plans to visit Chengdu again, in order to develop the details of the implementation of joint projects and gradually broaden aspects of cooperation.
